Editorial quality and scientific strategy: a roadmap in progress

Abstract

This editorial outlines the key milestones achieved by Revista de Cirugía in recent years, highlighting efforts to enhance its scientific visibility and impact both nationally and internationally. It reflects on the journal’s growth in scholarly output, the steady rise in citations, improved editorial turnaround times, and increasing institutional and geographic diversity among its contributors. The continuous support from the editorial team, scientific committee, and the Board of the Chilean Society of Surgeons has been instrumental in this progress. Following an unsuccessful application to PubMed, the journal has developed a targeted improvement plan that includes new submissions to international databases, a modernization of its editorial platform, and stricter peer review standards. These initiatives reaffirm the journal’s commitment to scientific excellence and global reach.
