Abstract
Objective: To report two cases of laparoscopic colorectal resection with natural orifice specimen extraction surgery (NOSES) for colorectal cancer, demonstrating the feasibility of this technique in Chile.
Case report: Case 1: A 50-year-old male with rectosigmoid junction cancer underwent laparoscopic anterior resection with transrectal specimen extraction. Case 2: A 42-year-old female with cecal cancer underwent laparoscopic right colectomy with transvaginal specimen extraction. Both procedures were completed without conversion or major complications. Patients were discharged on postoperative day 3 with early oral intake and restored bowel function.
Discussion: Based on international evidence accumulated over more than a decade of development and multiple meta-analyses, NOSES is feasible, safe, and reproducible in colorectal cancer surgery. Our experience confirms its feasibility in the Chilean surgical setting. These are, to our knowledge, the first cases reported in Chile.
