Abstract

Sleeve gastrectomy is the most frequently performed bariatric procedure today. The most common distant complication is the increased rate of gastroesophageal reflux disease. The anatomical and pathophysiological reasons for its origin have been described.

This article describes the key points of the gastric sleeve surgical technique for its prevention as well as other procedures that have been suggested both for its prevention and treatment.
